|9/11 - 10 Year Remembrance
The question is asked “where were you when….?” On September 11, 2011 many of us will stop to recall the terrible attacks on our nation and where we were ten years ago when we heard the news. The attack on our nation was a reminder of the world we live in and the risk many take as first responders and members of our military. That day forever changed many of our lives and those of our friends.
Our personal responses were varied. Some of us dusted off an old Bible and prayed, some found a way to volunteer or give blood and others of our younger generation looked to join our military. Since that time some of them have made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.
On the evening of September 11, 2001 and the days following, the skies of our nation were silent except for the sounds of military aircraft of the United States. In Western New York, we could hear the engines of the KC-135 tankers and C-130 Hercules from the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base as they launched on their missions to assist in protecting our nation from further attack. The following day many Western New York firefighters, police and military left their homes in Western New York to assist in the search and rescue in the City of New York.
Join us September 10-11, 2011 at the Thunder of Niagara Air Show at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, to remember those who lost their lives that day, those who served, and honor those who continue to protect us today.
